Privacy Policy
The Christian Business Network is a directory of businesses owned by members of the local church family. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information you give us
When you create an account we collect your name and email address, along with the sign-in method you choose. When you submit a business listing we collect the details you enter, which can include your business name, description, service offerings, address, phone number, website, and photos. If you contact us through the contact form or through the directory guide, we collect the name, email address, and message you send.
How we use it
We use your information to create and display your listing, to show your business to visitors browsing the directory, to deliver messages and membership notices to you by email, and to keep the directory accurate and free of spam. Aggregate, non-identifying information helps us understand which pages and listings visitors find useful.
Listings are public
A business listing is meant to be found, so the business name, description, services, location, contact details, photos, and ratings are visible to anyone who visits the directory. Please only include information you are comfortable publishing. Your account email address is never shown on a listing.
Messages to businesses
When you send a message to a business through the directory, the message and the email address on your account are shared with that business owner so they can reply to you directly. Directory administrators can also review messages to help resolve problems.
Ratings and view counts
To keep star ratings honest, we record a hashed identifier for each rating and for each counted listing view. The identifier is derived from your account or, for signed-out visitors, from connection details, and it is stored only as a hash. We do not store the raw address, and the hash is used only to prevent repeat voting and inflated view counts.
Payments
Membership and listing payments are handled by our payment provider, Base44 Payments. Card details are entered on their secure checkout and are not stored by us. We keep a record of the order, amount, and status so we can activate or end your listing correctly.
Service providers and sharing
We share information only with the services that make the directory work: our hosting and database provider, our payment provider, and our email delivery service. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Retention and your choices
We keep account and listing records for as long as your account is active, and message records for as long as needed to support the businesses and visitors involved. You can update or remove your listing details from your dashboard, ask us to delete your account, or unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in every newsletter. Some records, such as payment confirmations, may be kept longer where required.
Children
The directory is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we will remove any account or listing we learn belongs to a child.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes we will update the date below and, for significant changes, let members know by email. Questions about your information can be sent through our contact page.
